Suita, city of Japan, in Osaka Prefecture, southern Honshu Island, on the Yodo River, adjacent to Osaka. It is a manufacturing and railroad center; major products include beer, metal goods, chemicals, and wood items. Osaka University (1931) and Kansai University (1886) are here. The community first developed as a river port and became a manufacturing center in the late 19th century.
