Higashi-osaka, city on southwestern Honshu Island, Japan, in Osaka Prefecture. Formed in 1967 by the merger of three cities (Fuse, Kawachi, and Hiraoka), it is a suburb adjacent to the city of Osaka. It is of commercial and manufacturing importance, producing textiles, appliances, and machinery. A national park and a 7th-century Buddhist shrine are on Mount Ikoma, in the Hiraoka district of the city.
