Nishinomiya, city, Japan, in Hyogo Prefecture, southwestern Honshu Island, on Osaka Bay, near Osaka. A rail junction, the city is a major sake-brewing center, and vegetable oils are also produced here. It is the site of the Hirota Shrine, Kobe Women's College, Kansei Gakuin University (1889), a baseball stadium, and a racecourse.
