Kurashiki, city on southwestern Honshu Island, Japan, in Okayama Prefecture, an industrial center on the Inland Sea. Manufactures include textiles, petrochemicals, and motor vehicles. The traditional-style warehouses of the Edo period (1603-1867) are in the older sections of the city, on the Takahashi River. The Ohara Art Gallery (1930), noted for its collection of Japanese, Middle Eastern, and European art, is in the city.
