Sukabumi, city in southwestern Indonesia, in West Java Province, on the island of Java, at the southern foot of the Pangrango-Gede volcanic massif. Rubber, rice, tea, corn, copra, and cassava are grown in the area; industries in the city include textile mills and machine shops. It is a hill station and health resort (its name means “paradise”) on a railroad and is the site of an agricultural school. Nearby are hot springs and the Cibeureum Falls.
