Muzaffarnagar, city in northern India, in northwestern Uttar Pradesh state, located in a valley between the upper reaches of the Ganges and Yamuna rivers. The area is known for growing sugarcane, and Muzaffarnagar is a center for sugar industries. The city is also a regional trading center for agricultural products and for administrative, health, and education services. It is served by a major rail line and a national highway.
