Kamarhati, city in eastern India, in Bangla State, on the Hugli (Hooghly) River near Kolkata. It is a part of the greater Kolkata area and chiefly an industrial city, with jute and cotton mills, tanneries, and plants manufacturing cement, paint, metal and rubber products, and pottery.
