Nizamabad, city in southern India, in northwestern Andhra Pradesh state. Nizamabad is in an agricultural area that produces sugarcane and rice. A major rail line and a national highway serve the city. The nearest airport is in Hyderabad, about 150 km (about 90 mi) southeast. Points of interest in Nizamabad include a college and the Hindu Saraswati Devi temple. The fort of Indor, constructed by Jains in the 10th century, lies southwest of the city.
