Kakinada, city, southeastern India, in Andhra Pradesh State, a seaport on the Bay of Bengal and on the Godavari River delta. Navigable channels connect Kakinada with the Godavari Delta Canal system. In the city are rice and cottonseed-oil mills, salt works, and tobacco factories. The principal exports are cotton, rice, and oilseeds. Population (1991) 279,980.
