Baoji, city in northern China, in Shaanxi Province, in the Wei River valley. A transportation hub with rail connections to northwestern and southwestern China, Baoji is also a commercial and industrial center. Manufacturing industries, developed here largely after 1949, produce cotton textiles, railroad equipment, machinery, and paper.
