Guiyang, also Kuei-yang or Kweiyang, city, southern China, capital of Guizhou Province, an important transportation and industrial center. Manufactures, developed largely since 1949, include aluminum, iron and steel, chemicals, fertilizers, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and machine tools. Coal and bauxite are mined nearby.
