Banana Leaf Restaurant No. 8 Luhu Lu - 86.20.8359.1288 moderate Indian, Thai and Malaysian food restaurant. <P>Good atmosphere, though busy on certain days, and at certain times. Staff speaks mostly Mandarin, but menu is in English as well, and pictures on menu are most helpful for non-Chinese patrons. Cuisine: Indian / Pakistani Recommended Dishes:Garlic Shrimp. Chicken in Banana Leaf. Lobster dishes Review:One of Guangzhou's Best Restaurants A very good restaurant. I enjoyed the meal very much, and the service was excellent. Having a menu in English, with pictures of the items, was very helpful in allowing one to try dishes that you might not normally order, if you were unfamiliar with them.
The Hard Rock Cafe Basement Floor of China Hotel, Liuhua Lu - 86.20.8666.6888 ext 3050 expensive The Hard Rock Cafe closely resembles other Hard Rock establishments, with a slightly Chinese flair. Some items are not available, and others might taste slightly different, due to the inability to procure the same products served at the other Hard Rock Cafe's elsewhere. Atmosphere is generally equivalent, with a vast amount of music memorabilia sourrounding you. Cost is relatively higher than local Chinese restaurants, but is in keeping with many restaurants in China offering American cuisine. Cuisine: American Review:Everything was great so far. Just a few details that can be fixed. Presentation would be better if the salads were well placed on the plates, and the wings sauce was not all over the plates, etc. Review:Not That Good I was so hungry for American food while in China, I thought it would be great to goto the Hard Rock. Well...ribs were DRY and hard, hambuger had no flavor and the bill for 3 people came out to 1/2 a months living for the average Chinese person living here. This is the first time I was ever unhappy with a Hard Rock location. Don't waste your money here! If the food was good, I wouldn't have minded it ... but the food wasn't. Wait until you get home for some good food.
Kathleen's No. 60 Taojin Lu - 86.20.8359.8045 expensive Specializing in 'Authentic American Food'. Wait staff speaks English. Atmosphere is unique. Restaurant is a little difficult to find though. Might want to call to get directions for your first visit. Is centrally located across the street from the Garden Hotel and just East of the Friendship store. Food is good though slightly more expensive then Chinese standards which is the norm for most American cuisine here in China. One of the few places to get a decent Margarita here in Guangzhou. Cuisine: American
