Charikar, city in eastern Afghanistan, capital of Parvan Province, near Kabul. Situated at an altitude of about 1615 m (about 5300 ft), the city has industries producing pottery, iron, and cutlery. Fine grapes are grown in the region. Charikar grew in the 1960s after a large textile factory was established at nearby Golbahar.
