Rufisque, city, western Senegal, in Dakar Region, on the Atlantic Ocean at the base of the Cap Vert Peninsula near Dakar. A road junction on the Dakar-Niger Railroad, it was formerly an important port but is now eclipsed by Dakar. It is a peanut-processing center; other industries include titanium extracting, fruit canning, textile milling, oil refining, tanning, fishing, and the manufacture of drugs and shoes.
