Rashîd, city in northern Egypt, in Buhayrah (also called Behera) Governorate, near the Rosetta branch of the Nile River, close to the Nile's mouth. Rice growing, rice milling, fishing, and fish curing are principal industries. Established in the 9th century, Rashid was a major port until the 19th century.
