Serowe, town in eastern Botswana, capital of the Central District, near Palapye. A trade center and major town of Botswana, it is the headquarters of the Bamangwato (Ngwato) ethnic group. A monument (1925) honors the Bamangwato leader Khama, who moved his capital to Serowe from Palapye.
